Education involves the use of a variety of tools. In lectures, methods of presenting information have changed over time, from overhead projectors (OHP) to overhead cameras (OHC) and personal computers. Even activities among students have shifted from group work and poster presentations to the use of online whiteboards and documents.
Further, after the introduction of online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, class formats such as HyFlex and hybrid classes have emerged. In recent years, educational applications of technologies such as the Metaverse and VR have also been started. In particular, discussions on the educational applications of generative AI began around 2022 and are having a significant impact on university education.
This project will examine the educational applications of these various advanced technologies, including their introduction and impact on classes. The aim is to apply the results of the study to support teaching and learning in the College of Arts and Sciences.
In AY2023, we will be focusing on generative AI and working with relevant departments within the university.
